THE ENCHANTED HORSE

Irina doesn’t want anything for Christmas. She is too sad and lonely to enjoy herself. Then, on Christmas Eve, she sees a toy horse crushed under piles of dusty old furniture in the window of a junk shop. The blind man who owns the shop tells Irina the sad story of Bella, a beautiful wild horse, captured by a farmer known as Black Jack who beat and starved her and made her work too hard. When Black Jack died, the blind man went to the auction of his property and looked for beautiful Bella to save her but she wasn’t there. His other horses were there but not Bella. He found the toy horse there, which was odd because Black Jack had no children. It isn’t a rocking horse because it stands on its four feet with no rockers. Its mane and tail, tangled and dirty as they are, are real horse hair. So, what happened to Bella? And what will happen if Irina takes the toy horse home?

‘The Enchanted Horse’ is published by Collins in England. It has been translated into many languages and published all over the world.
